The Update Part One...

So sorry for the delay on the blog update. We have had a busy week getting back in to the groove of things here but we've had many opportunities to share about the great things God has done while we were in Africa. We'll try not to do a recap overload so over the next few days we'll post about our last days working in the villages, our trip and adventure to the game park and our never-ending trip home!

Monday and Tuesday (November 11th and 12th)
We headed back out into the villages for our last two days of building houses and hut-to-hut evangelism. Five of our team members visited two secondary schools before joining one of the teams at a work site in the village. While at the school they were able to share their testimonies and spend time with the students and teachers. Pastor Shem shared a devotion with the students in the PUBLIC school! After the orphanage and school visit on the previous Friday, our hearts were burdened for this school and one other. Neither school had a working computer to help run day to day programs and God placed on all of our hearts to purchase a computer, printer, ink and paper for these two schools. God opened doors and provided in multiple ways and we were able to bless these schools with the items they needed. One of the principals stated that they were now a "real school."
Out in the villages we worked on four houses in two days! It's hard to believe how much we were able to complete in the time we were there. As we worked on each house we had so many helpers from the community there helping in any way needed. They worked for hours, in the heat, many times without breaks and all came together for their neighbor in need. The day went on and we had quite the spectators at the work sites (the kids). Liquid gold, better known as bubbles, jump ropes, beads and finger nail polish kept these sweet little children entertained for hours. Each of these afternoons we had rain "showers" and not quick ones! They did however cool down the air just a bit! We had to cut the work days a little short but we got roofs on all homes and were able to dedicate each home to the Lord. We'll recap our special time with the Pastors and our preparation for the orphanage in another post. Hope you enjoy some more pictures of these days!

Quick Update...

Here is a quick little update before we head to Narok. We have 122 new brothers and sisters in Christ. We have all seen God do amazing things while we've been here in Ahero. We finished building our last four homes the past two days, went out in the villages with the local Pastors and made trips to two schools. Last night we prepared over 130 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the children at the orphanage we are going to visit today!! We honored the Pastors and their wives last night in a little celebration service and dinner. Please pray for us as we begin our travel back towards Nairobi. Hopefully we will have a chance to post some pictures later on this evening. We love and miss you all!

The Lord's Day and Lake Victoria

What a wonderful Sunday we had here in Kenya. We now have seven more brothers and sisters in Christ with a total of 60 new believers. God is so good!! After going to Pastor Patrick and Pastor Peter's churches we drove about 45 minutes to Kisumu which is right on Lake Victoria. A beautiful fish was prepared for each of us (the eyeball was the delicacy) and we ate right on the Lake. We looked around and bought just a few things and had a nice day to rest and prepare for work the next two days! We also had a birthday celebration for one our team members, Kim. It was definitely a birthday for her to remember! Please continue to pray. Everyone here is doing great and we are excited for our day ahead!!

God is so Good!

What a beautiful morning it is here in Ahero. As we prepare to go to Pastor Partick and Pastor Peter's churches this morning to worship together we wanted to give you a quick update. We have seen God at work in so many ways already. Yesterday we had 29 brothers and sisters come to have a personal relationship with Christ. Over the course of the two days we have 53 new brothers and sisters in Christ! God is so good! We had a wonderful time playing with the children yesterday and building another house. Hope you enjoy some of our pictures and thank you for your prayers. Praying for you all today!
